Southern Futsal

Academy

Overview

In Dec 2017, US Youth Futsal Announced the launch of an academy.  "The U.S. Youth Futsal Academy Program is intended to be the equivalent of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy," said Soorena Farboodmanesh, the new USYF program's director. "The objective is to produce players of exceptional ability in Futsal and soccer."

In January, 2019, US Youth Futsal selected BHM Futsal to join the program.  Year one saw 16 clubs and in year two, BHM Futsal were 1 of 8 clubs were added to the academy program.

At Birmingham Futsal, we are dedicated to providing the appropriate learning environment for players, families and coaches.  As futsal is still gaining ground in the south, many families may not see this as an option to play at the highest level.  In partnership with Atlanta Futsal, we can offer a program that allows players to compete and excel at the highest level - National Developmental Academy (or "DA"). This allows players to compete against other top futsal programs in the region (southeast) and country.  Our competitive season is set-up to not compete with youth soccer as we play leagues & tournaments in the winter and summer.

We are always striving to make a difference to players at all levels.

Player development is our #1 priority at Birmingham Futsal. Serving the player's needs is a requirement of every program we have from beginners to advanced.

"The U.S. Youth Futsal Academy Program is intended to be the equivalent of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy," said Soorena Farboodmanesh, the new USYF program's director. "The objective is to produce players of exceptional ability in Futsal and soccer."

Establishing an academy is in direct response to the growing demand for opportunities to learn, play and showcase Futsal across the country.

"Throughout the United States there are more and more players, coaches and teams embracing the sport of Futsal," said U.S. Youth Futsal Technical Director Keith Tozer, who also serves as a FIFA Futsal Instructor. "Syncing many outstanding local programs into one larger U.S. Youth Futsal Academy will be of enormous benefit to player development."

"We have many outstanding coaches throughout the country," said Tozer, who also serves as head coach of the U.S. Men's National Futsal Team. "The USYF Academy will help turn Futsal from a largely seasonal sport to a standardized, year-round training component that will create better indoor and outdoor football players.

Our Academy program allows our most advanced players to be challenged at the Regional & National level.  Designed to not conflict with youth soccer programs, our program picks up the intensity in the winter and summer.  It is a year-round program with a minimum of one practice a week in the fall and spring.

More practices and games will be on offer but we will not place a requirement on the player and family to attend more than once.  Our games will be within the Birmingham area and a few against other academies such as Atlanta or Charlotte that we will meet at a venue between us.

We will have teams from U9 to U17 that will be able to train year round and compete in the Winter and Summer.
