What is Futsal?

What is Futsal?

Futsal is the only form of indoor soccer endorsed by FIFA. It earned the status of FIFA’s official form of indoor soccer in the 1980s as it was recognized as a scaled down version of outdoor soccer played indoor.

It is a 5 v 5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, heavier low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls.

Futsal is the only "Official form of Indoor Soccer" as approved by the  Internationale de Football Association FIFA. It is played in all the continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players. Futsal is played on a gymnasium hard-wood floor or all-purpose sports flooring. The game does not require the use of expensive dasher boards, as do other versions of indoor soccer, therefore making it a very economical and safe sport.

"In Argentina, I played futsal on the streets & for my club.  It was tremendous fun & it really helped me become who I am today." Lionel Messi - Barcelona & Argentina

"During my childhood in Portugal, all we played was futsal. The small playing area helped me improve my close control and whenever I played futsal, I felt free.  If it wasn't for Futsal, I wouldn't be the player I am today" Cristiano Ronaldo. Juventus & Portugal.

Why Futsal & Why Now?

Futsal is well known for developing more naturally gifted, creative soccer players who can execute technique and decisions at speed. Ronaldo, Messi, Ronladinho, Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar, and even Pele have all pointed to Futsal as an integral part of their development. It is naturally faster and has more dribbling, passing and shooting opportunities compared to regular soccer. It is also more player centered as the game is the teacher.

Competitive soccer in Atlanta is now at an average of over $1500 with fees and uniforms. This does not take into account that most clubs want your team to attend 6-8 tournaments a season plus travel all over the state for games.

The current model of soccer is either travel, which is very expensive and can be inconsistent and recreational, which is low cost but inconsistent and often with little to no emphasis on correct technical development. We couldn't find any program that offered anything more consistent and with a lower financial and travel commitment, so we decided that we would have to create one.

We are educators focused on keeping children in the game to enjoy the sport, develop their technical, tactical, physical and psychological areas of the game. To allow them to play other sports as Futsal does not require the the same amount of time travelling to games and tournaments. To prepare them for competitive soccer at a high level, when they are older and understand the commitment required.

Our mission is to improve the level of soccer in Atlanta, through Futsal, which is proven to produce talented and creative players. We can do this by serving the players and families in the communities we have worked and lived in for over 14 years by offering the highest level of coaching and teaching in a program accessible for everyone.
